What are the Willit kiosk and platform?

Willit is a complete local-food platform and a modular shipping-container kiosk that brings local food to where people are, open 24/7. A standard 20-foot shipping container is transformed into a branded local-food kiosk: cold chain, payment, and food-safety compliance are built in. Every kiosk links automatically to its own white-label online store, the same proven platform behind willit.fi and lahikalaa.fi. Turnkey from 999 €/month, everything included. The concept is modular and replicable in any city or town; the first kiosk opens in Oulu.

All local food on board

The kiosk and platform are built for all local food: farm produce, fish, meat, baked goods, and wild foods and their preserves. The selection is curated to each location, with cold chain, payments, and food-safety compliance handled automatically regardless of product type.

The first kiosk opens in Oulu

The Willit concept was born in Oulu, and that is where the first kiosk opens too. It is being designed with producers, local designers, and commercial partners, and its goal is to prove the whole platform in practice: how the kiosk works, the white-label online store, customer flow, producer onboarding, the cold chain, and food-safety compliance, all in one turnkey package.

Location strategy

Kiosks are not placed at random. Each location is calculated to match customer flow and producer mix: the right kiosk in the right place, close to the right customers. The kiosk and cold chain work as a hub-and-spoke platform connecting local producers and buyers, scaling from city to city and country to country.

Technology

Cold chain in the kiosk

Adjustable cold zones for frozen, fish, and other chilled products keep produce at its freshest. The kiosk is designed to run on a standard 32A connection.

White-label online store

Every kiosk gets its own branded online store on the same platform as willit.fi and lahikalaa.fi. Products are found online instantly, and buyers reserve and pick them up from the kiosk.

BLE temperature monitoring

Built-in energy-efficient Bluetooth tracking logs temperature continuously. Alerts go to the producer and to Willit.

Smart access control and inventory

Customers pick up products securely via the app or a code. Adding products, managing expiry dates, and removing items from sale are all handled on the same platform.

Food safety and compliance

Willit handles self-monitoring plan (omavalvontasuunnitelma) requirements for you. The system meets EU Regulation (EC) 852/2004 and Finnish Food Authority (Ruokavirasto) requirements. Only packaged products are sold in unmanned self-service.

Temperature monitoring

IoT sensors log temperature continuously at least every 15 minutes. Adjustable temperature zones: -18 °C for frozen products, 0-2 °C for fresh fish, 2-8 °C for other chilled products. Automatic alerts for deviations.

HACCP hazard analysis

Critical control points (CCPs) identified, limits defined, and corrective actions documented automatically.

Traceability

Every product traceable to the seller and collection date. "One step back, one step forward" implemented automatically.

Expiry management

Products are automatically removed from sale after their use-by date. No manual tracking needed.
